Avedisian welcomes Concordia Medical to Warwick
WARWICK – Mayor Scott Avedisian today extended his congratulations to Concordia Manufacturing, LLC, a Coventry-based company that recently announced plans to expand its medical business into a Warwick facility, and welcomed the 88-year old company to the city.
“At a time when we are hearing about business consolidations, layoffs and foreclosures, it’s wonderful to hear that Concordia is not only expanding here but expects to hire up to 15 new employees,” Avedisian said. “We are pleased to welcome them to Warwick and look forward to working cooperatively with them to ensure their continued success and future growth.”
“We are excited about the opportunity to move our medical business to this purpose-built facility in an attractive central location,” said Art Burghouwt, Executive Vice-President of Concordia Medical. “We look forward to growing our business while staying committed to our Rhode Island roots.”
The state Economic Development Corporation approved a $500,000 loan through its Small Business Loan Fund. Total expansion costs for Concordia Medical are estimated at $1.6 million and include purchase of new manufacturing and testing equipment and construction of additional medical clean-room space at the 24,575 square-foot facility it will lease at 60 Commerce Drive in Warwick. Concordia’s Industrial Fibers business will remain headquartered in Coventry.
